Project Update, 1.5.12

Greetings folks!

I would like to briefly explain the recent changes that have occured to our newsletter. While many of you know GreenMedInfo.com to be an excellent, open-source biomedical resource in natural medicine with close to 20,000 abstracts avaiable to view without restriction, we are also passionately dedicated to consumer and environmental health advocacy. Much of my writing and work, as the founder, has been geared towards making the research intelligible and actionable to the layperson — which is by far our largest base of supporters in comparison to those who are trained, degreed or licensed in the scientific or medical domains.  Due to the fact that the past three years required most of my time be spent in database development, I have not been free to do as much writing as I  would have liked … that is, until now (*sigh of relief*).

Why is this important? The most consistent feedback we have received over the years from our base of supporters is that the research is too alienating, written in technical jargon that can not be readily understood, etc. Although we are still striving to get our database and clinical toolset into the hands of these professionals, and we thank you for spreading the word, we also have a desire and duty to share the research in a way that is relevant to those who are not academics and/or health practitioners, and who are seeking to take back responsibility for their health, always with an eye to the supporting “evidence.” This is why, as you may have noticed, our homepage now contains a stream of articles (posted on a daily basis), which we hope you will find helpful.

With that said, we believe it is extremely important that we give our subscribers choices, so if you are only interested in receiving a monthly update, focusing more specifically on the development and features of the database, please respond to this email with the subject “Monthly” and we’ll take you off this list and put you on the other one. Otherwise, you will receive more consistent updates, usually one a week, and a maximum of two.

All the best!

Sayer Ji & the GreenMedInfo.com team
