Due to growing concern (real or imagined) over the prospect of a swine flu pandemic GreenMedInfo will be focusing on collating research that is relevant to influenza prevention and/or treatment. Swine flu is a reassortment and/or DNA recombination of four distinct genetic lineages: Eurasian swine, American swine, Avian and Human influenza types. All influenza subtypes contain two primary vectors of infectivity: namely, the viral surface antigen known Hemagglutinin and the viral enzyme Neuromindidase. Identifying natural Hemagglutinin inhibitors and Neurominidase inhibitors are a fundamental priority of this project.
Mortality associated with pandemic virus infections is believed to result largely from the immune system over-reacting and causing autoimmune destruction of tissue in what has been called the cytokine-storm. A number of substances have been shown to modulate cytokine production during viral infection, leading to reduced collateral damage.
The following pages may be relevant to the aim of preventing or attenuating illness caused by swine flu infection: H1N1 Infection, Avian Flu, Human influenza, Hemagglutinin inhibitors and Neurominidase inhibitors. The pneumonia page lists alternatives approaches to treating secondary infections. in the case that secondary infections take hold. Next will be a Vaccine-Induced Toxicity ATTENUATION page….Stay Tuned. Not already signed up for our monthly update? Go here.
