Milestone Attained! GreenMedInfo’s New Feature Realizes 5-Year Long Mission
Greetings folks! After 5 years of non-stop data entry and feature development, I can tell you that I feel like someone who has just reached the top of a rather sizeable mountain, finally able to both rejoice, and take a much needed rest.
Five years ago, GreenMedInfo.com was just a vision. I saw the need for such a public resource on natural medicine, knew of the amazing government resource that is MEDLINE, and with the help of Cameron, our CIO, we created the database that you have before you today.
However, there was a problem early on: information overload. Who, in their right mind, is going to know what to do with 10’s of thousands of studies? It was for this reason that we created a powerful suite of database features, now 12 in total, which enabled folks to make sense of the massive quantities of data, and even draw qualitative conclusions from it, and make practical use of it, in a few easy steps.
But it is our newest feature additions (Focused PDF/Focused Page), I believe, that will take this project to a new level. How so? It will empower folks out there, already doing the hard but rewarding work in the context of natural and integrative medical intervention, to focus the research on our database, not only with laser-like precision, but in a publicly visible, shareable and referenceable manner, which we believe may forever change the way natural medicine is perceived and practiced.
In a way, we have equipped our movement with a bouquet of “flowers,” offering peace to the conventional folks, saying: “hey, we have plenty of evidence here too. No need to fear. We are brothers and sisters,” but also with “claws” to fight off the age-old invectives of those who would claim natural medicine is not “scientific,” or “evidence-based” and should be either ignored, crushed, or criminalized for lack of it. Our database will arm folks with thousands of studies, in an instant, designed to transfer liability away from those practicing non-toxic, healing modalities, and towards those practicing dangerous, unproven, and highly unnatural medicine, e.g. you say statins are safe? What about these 450 studies proving otherwise!?
